I hope you enjoyed reading my blog! Just so you know...
I try to source my photos as best as possible, however, sometimes I do not know the original source. If you happen to find one of your photos here without proper credit or know the original source to a photo shown, please email me so I can add a link and give proper credit.
And if you would like to use one of my original photos, you may, as long as you give credit and link back!
thanks so much! Hope to see you again soon! xoxo
I'm totally smitten with Kris Atomic. I found out about her through Miss James of Bleubird. What a happy find!
Kris Atomic makes fabulous, funny, and utterly adorable illustrations like the two above. Her blog is a delightful mixture of illustrations, fashion inspiration, and beautiful photos. I think I spent a full 3 hours just browsing her blog archives. I love that instead of doing everyday outfit photos, like every other blogger in the world she uses illustrations to show off her everyday outfits! So original.
You should head on over to her blog, you'll thank me for giving you something to do for the next 3 hours.
P.S. I need to buy that bitchface print as I too, have struggled with Chronic Bitchface for most of my life. :)
Pintrest has changed my life. I'm serious... In fact, I didn't even realize that Pink and Peach were my favorite colors until I started reflecting on my recent Pins. Here are a few of my favorites...
Hello Fauna Lovers! I'm Ashley from Sally Lou Vintage and I'm here to share with all of you a few of the things I'm loving right now.
And speaking of things I love...don't forget to enter the giveaway for a lovely vintage necklace from my Etsy Shop's collection! Click on the link for information and rules!
Pretty window displays
These are from Le Pink, a perfectly girly toiletries boutique/apothecary in Silver Lake! They always take it to the next level in their window displays!
...and here are some details of an impressive arrangement from the adorable shop Reform School, also located here in good ol' S.L.! I love that these shops take pride in their storefronts and produce such imaginative creations!
Candy-Coated Nails
Even when it's not springtime I'm still loving Easter egg-inspired nail lacquer. It compliments my pale skin well and has that dainty, girly appeal! I just bought Essie's Beach Party (the perfect pale pink) and Mint Candy Apple (seafoam green) which are deliciously Sweetart-y!
Sperry Topsiders 2011
They're not your dad's Sperry Topsiders anymore! The classic boat shoe-maker has expanded to create some seriously adorable wedges and sandals as well as a few modern takes on the original model (metallics, anyone?)!
I plan to devote an entire blog post on my love for all things Vera in the future, but for now enjoy some of the fabulous mod and floral prints by this 1960's favorite. The scarves make a perfect pre-summer accessory.
On Wednesday I was featured by the lovely Bri on the Oh Joy! blog. If you haven't seen it, check out Closet & Casa featuring yours truly. You can see a couple of things that are near and dear to my heart.
Hola Amigos! Rachel Red Lips here with a round up of some sewing tutorials that I've whipped up as an intern at Colette Patterns. If you are already a sewing fiend or have some seamster curiousity, you should definitely check out the Colette Patterns blog where you'll find tons of informative tutorials, interviews with designers, vintage design history, and many more inspiring posts that'll give you sewing confidence and creativity. Enjoy!
Just a quick little update on what is new in Fauna Land...
Do you Rue? I do! If you haven't had your fix yet, then hurry up and get over there. Check out Issue number five. I'm pretty sure you will ADORE it from cover to cover it's full of "beautiful people doing beautiful things in beautiful places." It's both vibrant & refreshing and an all around good read from cover to cover! I wardrobe styled the cover shoot. I'm so honored & proud! It's very inspiring to work with such creative people. I hope you enjoy perusing the pages as much as I loved being a part of the making. Yay for RUE!
On a different note... Life around the Fauna Headquarters is a little hectic. The Mister had a family emergency come up. Tonight he is flying to Michigan to spend time with his family. I will join him on Thursday. In the meantime, I'm working on a SUPER secret, SUPER time intensive project (which I will be sharing in the future. For now, it's all hush hush). Fauna will be back to normal next week, however this week I might be a little quiet, and the store will miss it's weekly update.
BUT...
life goes on! I've managed to pull together a couple of my favorite lady friends to entertain you with quality guest posts. I think you will like them a LOT! Stay tuned.
This time it's from my pal Ashley over at Sally Lou Vintage! It's a snazzy double leaf gold-plated necklace! The length is 18 3/4. You are totally drooling, right? I know I am...

I'm loving the Fall 2011 Alexandra Grecco collection!
I think the peach and blue dress need to get in my closet!
If you are in New York you should know that Alexandra Grecco is having a trunk show at Bloomingdale's Soho on May 19th. And for those of us that are NOT in New York check out her absolutely DARLING Etsy store.
